Botox Cosmetic is the #1 selling treatment of its kind and is the first and only treatment FDA-approved to temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults.
This neurotoxin targets one of the underlying causes of formation of expression lines — the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, smiling, squinting, laughing and raising your eyebrows over the years – that can make you look tired or angry even when you are not.
Botox safely works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity. The treated muscles are relaxed around the injected area, which reduces the skin creasing of these “dynamic wrinkles” that have developed on your face every time you contract muscles to make an expression. The treatment results in a smoother appearance to the skin and can also prevent new creasing from occurring.
The most common dynamic wrinkles that Botox treats are lines on the upper face, such as ‘the 11’s’ (vertical lines between the brows), horizontal lines on the forehead, crow’s feet around the eyes and in the lip area.
While adults in their 50’s and 60’s have traditionally used Botox since its introduction, today, even younger adults are turning to Botox treatments as part of a preventative anti-aging treatment plan.
During your consultation, we will address your goals and concerns, and determine the appropriate treatment plan for the areas you wish to address. Please discuss any medication and supplements you take, as well as any disease that affects your muscles and nerves, any allergies to botulinum toxin product, or side effects from any other botulinum toxin in the past and last date of receiving any botulinum toxin product.
A complete Botox treatment takes approximately five to ten minutes. A syringe containing Botox is injected in the skin or underlying muscle with small amounts of fluid. This is repeated until all areas are treated. No anesthesia is required for a treatment.
When the treatment is over, you are ready to go. There is no downtime with Botox. However, as a precaution to keep the product from migrating from the injection site, we ask that you do not lie flat for at least four hours post-treatment and do not exercise for the rest of the day.
You may begin to notice a visible smoothing of your frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines within 24 to 48 hours of treatment. Botox is a temporary treatment, and results do vary from patient to patient, but, typically, results last up to four months.
